"The Extras" is the eighth episode of Flavour 3 of The Astonishing Earth of Gumball. It is the 84^th episode overall.

Synopsis

It is a slow day for Gumball and Darwin, and the others in Elmore go to take center stage.

Plot

Gumball and Darwin are in the the cafeteria, commenting on how they are having a irksome day, and that aught much is happening. Of a sudden, the light-green comport stands upwardly from the table in the background, and shouts, "Finally!" and starts singing a song, asking for Gumball and Darwin to observe him. As the song goes on, endless other modest and background characters bring together in and sing along. When the song stops, Gumball and Darwin are still shocked from this sudden evolution, driving Gumball to oblige to their asking.

The showtime clip takes identify in a flashback to the episode "The Sweaters," when Gumball and Darwin were having a lawn tennis match against Carlton and Troy, and Darwin is singing "This is boring." The scene cuts to the audience. A paper-thin person walks up to a blond guy, his friend, with popcorn and soda. Being paper-thin-like, they can not move an inch, and then the popcorn spills when the guy in the green shirt gives it to his friend. The blond guy tries to get his change, but after a struggle, gives up, and lets his friend continue it. The second clip takes places at Elmore Hospital, where the Hamburger Cop is a patient. The cast doctor walks upward to him, and he asks the md what is wrong with him. His respond is, "Well, your cholesterol is manner too high. I recommend you become a veggie burger." A rimshot is heard in response to this joke, but information technology actually comes from a drum kit guy, who is sick and has a cold. The doc so says to the drum kit that he will exist attending to him presently.

The third clip takes identify at the bus finish. Ed says hi to the bus stop sign (which he thinks is one of them), but the bus finish sign does not answer. But his haircut blocks his vision when he turns around, and he falls down.

A bacon human being is seen in the next part of the story, walking and singing about how he is salary. He accidentally bumps into Colin and Felix, and the result is a frowning bacon and eggs face. The drum kit person from before passes by, and sneezes, playing a rimshot.

Dorsum in Richwood High, the guy in the greenish shirt comes back with popcorn. He tries giving it to his friend slowly, but it falls to the ground again. The blonde-haired guy tries to bend over to pick upwardly his nutrient, but instead ends up flipping himself upside-downwardly.

A pigeon lands on the Wattersons' house'due south chimney. Suddenly, a colorful bird lands nigh the other bird and starts dancing, trying to attract information technology. The colorful bird stops dancing after the pigeon tells him that he is a male. However, the pigeon tells him to proceed dancing anyhow.

In the next prune, Felicity and her son, Baton, are on the road in her machine. Billy repeatedly asks his mother if they are at that place withal, wherever they are going to become to. Felicity tries her best to be patient, only after Billy asks her to drive faster, she crashes their car into a house. Billy's mother tells him that his father will take care of him while she will accept a "picayune lie-downwards." On the lawn of the house, she knocks herself unconscious with a shovel.

The next segment of the story takes identify in the Chanax Inc. building. Lenny, Mike, and Charlie hang out. After Lenny asks Mike what his job is, Mike says he is a financial practitioner contractor. Then he reveals that he does non know what it is, and he hates it. Marvin says that he is talking to a trash can, and asking if he took his medicine, and Louie (mistaking Marvin for a magic talking burn down hydrant) tells him that he did not enquire for his opinion.

In Richwood Loftier, the guy with the light-green shirt says to his friend that the tennis ball is coming his manner. He does non know what to practice, and his friend asks him to catch it. The green-shirted guy tries to catch information technology, but the brawl just bounces off of him, and flips him to his side, making him seemingly disappear. After his friend "saves" his life past making him "appear" again, they hug, just their artillery become stuck.

In the next prune, a group of prisoners in their cell kickoff humming and sing a song. One of them snaps his fingers to information technology. The song goes well until another prisoner plays his harmonica out of tune. The others do non mind and proceed their song.

Gary is and so seen in Win or Don't Win, waiting to see if he won the prize: a microwave. The host of the game announces that he won. Gary becomes so excited, he roars, tears his shirt off, and shouts his thanks at the host repeatedly. The host is happy until Gary hugs him non-too-gently, and begins kissing him. The host tries to flee, but is tackled past Gary. He screams for help and the show is cut off.

Back in Richwood High again, the guy in the green shirt complains about his arms getting tired, and the blonde-haired guy remarks that they can not exercise anything near that. The guy in the green shirt questions this, and after some effort discovers that he tin can really move, turning into a homo. The other paper-thin-like spectators are amazed by this, until they encounter he is different, and become hostile against him. The human being grabs his still stationary friend and flees from the aroused crowd.

In the cemetery, a ghost rises and falls from his grave once again and again. Another ghost nearby rises and asks the beginning ghost what he is doing. The first ghost says he is working out, and shows him his gut. The other says a joke and the pulsate kit passes past and sneezes, playing a rimshot.

The penultimate clip shows how the Pepperonis kickoff met. First, Siciliana drops a napkin at a bus stop, which Quattro picks upward for her. He gives it back to her, having written for her to run across him at the park. Once they meet, they fall in love immediately. After a montage showing the two on a tandem wheel, having a picnic, and seeing a movie, the 2 exchange a osculation. However, when their faces touch, they get stuck together, and once they manage to pull their faces apart, they have become disfigured, causing everybody else in the park to scream in horror.

In a car, the human and his friend abscond from the school. His friend is glad that he was not left behind, but is blown away by the wind. The man then says he will never go out him behind, unaware of his friend flying abroad.

In the cafeteria, the minor characters sing the reprise of the song, asking them to plough around and observe them. Gumball and Darwin await behind them upon this request, and they say that there are no more people behind them. The green bear says he did not think almost that, ending the episode.

The episode was originally titled "The People."
Gumball only has three lines of dialogue throughout the episode and Darwin but has two lines, one of which is during a flashback to "The Sweaters."
Darwin's line in "The Sweaters" is redubbed past Terrell Ransom Jr.
Shane Rimmer joins the bandage as the vox of Louie in this episode.
Running gag: The drum kit guy walking past people.
The characters who sing "Merely Discover Us" break the fourth wall past acknowledging that they are very pocket-sized characters in the show.

This is Gumball and Darwin's second minor role. Their first was in "The World."
This is the start time the characters featured in this episode (aside from Gumball, Darwin, and Marvin) take had major roles in the serial.
This episode is very similar to "The Globe":
- Gumball and Darwin are pocket-size characters.
- It is composed of short skits, one being a different story for a different character.
- A song begins and ends the episode.
- The lengthy skit of the Pepperonis' love story mirrors the lengthy skit in "The Globe" of Anais and her Daisy the Donkey doll'south heartfelt friendship from when she first got her; both are lengthy and shown to soft music, but end in a fashion which comically ruins the whole heartfelt set-up, with screams of terror included, and both are the penultimate curt story of the episode.

Cultural references

The music that the Senior Citizens dance to sounds similar to "Rockit" past Herbie Hancock.
When the dark-green conduct starts the song by saying "Finally!" it is done similarly to the way Queen starts off their song "We Are The Champions."
The background characters bursting into music is a possible reference to High School Musical.
The construction men unintentionally saying hair-related phrases to Steve about his hair is like to Austin Powers talking about the Mole'due south mole inAustin Powers in Goldmember. A like matter happens where the construction men blurt out that his hair is terrible (like to where Austin says that the Mole has a large mole on his face up).

Goofs/errors

Marvin is one of the characters seen in the "Just Discover Us" song, singing that he never got the risk into the spotlight, fifty-fifty though there was an episode with him equally a major graphic symbol.
When the pigeon flies onto the chimney, he is covering more than half of the chimney. After it zooms in, the dove is roofing noticeably less. Information technology is possible that the pigeon did this so the chimney would accept plenty room for the second bird to land on.
When the view of Felicity's machine changes, the side mirrors disappear.
During the song at the finish, the Pepperonis are seen in the front. Subsequently information technology zooms in on Hank and George, they disappear.

[Ed, the Black Pentagon, and the Blackness Rectangle walk to the bus end. Ed sees the passenger vehicle stop sign, and makes a sing-song intonation noise equivalent to him saying "hi" to it. The motorcoach stop does not reply. This angers Ed, and he rages at information technology until he hits the sign. The triangle's family recognize it every bit a bus stop sign, and not a shape person.]

[With his eyes closed, he turns dorsum. Only his wig does not, and covers his airtight eyes. Steve walks away, merely falls down a ditch]

George : But information technology suits you!

Eggs and Bacon

[The Practice Bacon walks forth the street]

Do Bacon: Salary homo. I'm fabricated of salary! I'm the but one who can commit to vegetarian. To bacon! 'Crusade I'one thousand fabricated of bacon! I'thousand the salary man! And-

[He bumps into both Colin and Felix, smashing them open. The result is an eggs and salary frowning face. The drum kit guy passes past, and sneezes]

Back at the Stadium

Human 1: [Moves through oversupply] Sorry. Sorry. Me again, coming through. Hey dude! Here'south your popcorn.

Human two: Can you give it to me, slowly this time please?

Human i: Sure.

[He easily the popcorn to the other spectator slowly. The popcorn falls again, but much slowly]

Homo 2: [Sighs]

Human i: Yeah. Sorry. Let me pick it up.

Homo 2: No no no. I can do this.

[He struggles to bend over many times. Then he snaps himself, and flips upside downwards]

Man 2: AH!

Human 1: Dude! Are yous alright?

Human 2: Yes, everything's cool.

Birds

[A pigeon lands on the Watterson'due south house'southward chimney. Then a colorful bird lands in front of information technology]

Colorful Bird: [Chirps] (Translation: Hey girl, wanna dance? Considering I've got moves).

[He dances until the other bird stops]

Pigeon: [Chirps] (Translation: Dude, you lot exercise realize I'1000 a guy right?)

Colorful Bird: [Dismayed]

Mother-Son Time

[Felicity is driving her car]

Baton : Mother, will we get there soon?

Felicity : Uh aye. Quite soon.

Billy : Mother, are we at that place yet?

Felicity : Uh no. It'll take a little more time, darling.

Felicity : Aye, my precious.

[Short moment of silence]

Billy : Female parent, are we there now?

Felicity : No. Non yet, darling.

[She drives faster, and crashes into a house]

Mike : [Drinks]

All: Ooohhh!

[She sits downward, and Louie gets upwardly]

All: Ooohhh-

Louie : Ugh, cut it out! I haven't started withal.

[He does some of his own moves, only his bones also crepitate and crack. Then he kneels, and points to a trashcan]

Louie : You just got served, immature human being.

Marvin : Louie, that'due south a trashcan! Did you take your medicine?

Louie : No ane asked for your stance, magic talking fire hydrant!

[A tennis ball is served]

The Story of the Pepperonis

[In the bus end, Siciliana takes out a cloth, just information technology is blown away by the wind. She bends to pick it up, and sees someone's hand taking information technology. Quattro and so gives it back to her. The cloth now says "Encounter me in the park, two PM." Siciliana looks up, and sees that Quattro is gone. The scene cuts to her in the park, sitting on a bench. She looks at the time on her watch, and in one case she looks dorsum upward, Quattro is beside her. They come close together, and hold easily. They have fun together, and bike, have a picnic and sentinel a movie. And so at the end of the twenty-four hour period, they kiss.
